(thepostmillennial)Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Thursday that she does not “feel safe” around Republican legislators.

Cuomo asked Ocasio-Cortez why she was not in attendance at the inauguration of Joe Biden, noting that Biden had sought to make the inauguration a display of “unity.”

The firebrand Congresswoman responded by saying she has “very real security concerns” about the intentions of Republican lawmakers. “We still don’t yet feel safe around other Members of Congress,” she said as Cuomo cut her off to ask how many people constitutes “we.”

“I think a very considerable amount,” Ocasio-Cortez responded. “A lot of members do not feel safe.”

Cuomo continued to press Ocasio-Cortez on whether a Republican member of Congress would actually “do you dirty,” with the Congresswoman noting that some Republicans have tried to bring firearms into Congress.

“Yes, well, one just tried to bring a gun on the floor of the House today,” she said. “I believe it was Representative Andy Harris of Maryland. He tried to bring in a gun on to the House floor… Why does a member of Congress need to sneak a gun on to the House floor?”

Congressman Harris has thus far refused to confirm or deny whether he brought a firearm into the Capitol Building, but his office did note that “his family’s lives have been threatened by someone who has been released awaiting trial.”

Ocasio-Cortez further said that whatever the intentions of Republican lawmakers are for carrying firearms, it does not matter because “the impact is to put all 435 Members of Congress in danger.”

“It doesn’t matter what your intention is, if you are irresponsible, if you are trying to break rules, you’re trying to sneak a fire arm, on to the floor of the House, I don’t care if you accidentally set it off, I don’t care if you intentionally set it off, I don’t care if you don’t set it off at all, you are put–you are endangering the lives of Members of Congress,” she complained.

Ocasio-Cortez had said previously that she had safety concerns around Republican members of Congress, stating that they were white supremacists and that she believed they would help people hurt her. She has since proposed that there be limits on the free press, and that Trump supporters undergo education in “deradicalization.” In November, Ocasio-Cortez said that she was proud that the progressive movement had “radicalized” millennials.
