(bigleaguepolitics)President Donald Trump has fired secretary of defense Mark Esper and replaced him with acting secretary Christopher C. Miller.
Trump tweeted the announcement Monday afternoon: “I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately. Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.”

Esper’s firing has been a long time coming. Big League Politics reported back in June how Trump wanted to fire Esper over his handling (or lack thereof) of the George Floyd riots but was ultimately talked out of it.
Mark Esper also received heat from social conservatives and Trump supporters for introducing a new board on “diversity and inclusion in the military”:
“My goal is to effect an enterprise-wide, organizational and cultural shift,” Esper said in a video address to the Department of Defense (DOD).
Esper talked about the legitimacy of structural racism, and other tropes made up by cultural Marxists, showing how the Trump administration is folding to the left-wing mob.
“We are not immune to the forces of bias and prejudice — whether visible or invisible, conscious or unconscious,” Esper continued. “We know this bias burdens many of our Service members, and has direct and indirect impact on the experiences of our minority members, the cultural and ethnic diversity of the force, and representation in our officer ranks. These things have no place in our military; they have no place in our country.”
“Removing bias and prejudice in all its forms and ensuring equal opportunity and respect for all will make us stronger, more capable, and more ready as a joint force,” Esper added. “A diverse and inclusive DoD draws out and builds upon the best in each of us… it brings out the best in America.”
President Trump has become frustrated with Esper in recent weeks as he has undermined law and order throughout the nation, and has contemplated firing the man.
I say good riddance to Esper. Here’s hoping that acting secretary Christopher C. Miller can adequately hold down the fort while Trump seeks a full-time replacement.
