New video surfaces of Capitol building rioters grabbing and dragging police officer into the mob

(thepostmillennial)New shocking video has surfaced from the Wednesday siege on the Capitol building showing a rioter drag an officer from the police line and into the mob of violent protesters.

A rioter in a black, red and white hat in the Bellingcat Twitter video can be seen dragging the officer clad in riot gear from the police line sheltered under an overpass outside the Capitol building.

Other rioters are seen throwing projectiles at officers and using blunt objects to attack the officers assembled to defend the building.

Several law enforcement officers were injured in the clashes with rioters at the Capitol. Officer Brian Sicknick died the day after the riots, he was reportedly severely injured during the melee at the capitol building, ABC News reported. Sicknick was a military veteran and served 12 years on the Capitol Hill police force.

Bellingcat’s Twitter thread attempted to locate where and by whom Officer Sicknick was attacked.

It is unclear whether the officer in the video is Officer Sicknick or another of the several police officers injured in the melee that day.

Officer Sicknick’s brother said in a statement, “he passed away a hero. I would like to thank all of his brothers and sisters in law enforcement for the incredible compassion and support they have shown my family.”

Authorities say that Sicknick’s death on Thursday may have been caused by a medical condition and not from an attack by rioters, ABC reported. An investigation into the circumstances that caused his death is ongoing and reports of an alleged attack with a fire extinguisher during the riot remain unconfirmed at this time.

“Many details regarding Wednesday’s events and the direct causes of Brian’s injuries remain unknown and our family asks the public and the press to respect our wishes in not making Brian’s passing a political issue,” a statement from Sicknick’s family reads. His death is one of five resulting from Wednesday’s riots on Capitol Hill.
