Fla. Launches Investigation of Law Enforcement Response to Shooting
February 25, 2018
Authorities in Florida are launching an investigation into the law enforcement response to the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School earlier this month.
Governor Rick Scott made the announcement Sunday, shortly after meeting with the commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Scott’s request for the probe comes after video showed at least one deputy taking a defensive position outside the school, but never going in to engage the alleged gunman.
The Broward Sheriff’s office welcomed Scott’s call for an investigation.
Sheriff Scott Israel said the independent outside review will ensure public confidence in the findings.
