(thepostmillennial)A New Orleans Police Department officer was shot in the face by a man in the back of a pedicab Friday afternoon in the French Quarter, according to WWNO.
The four-year veterans of the force is in serious but stable condition according to NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, who also described the shooting as an “ambush.”
Police also said there was “no interaction” between the shooter and police prior to the shooting.
The shooting happened near St. Phillip and Royal Streets at around 4:30 p.m. Two officers were sitting in their patrol car when the gunman opened fire. One officer was grazed by broken glass while another officer suffered more serious injuries, included a bullet to the face.
Police arrested the suspect a few blocks away and was described as being in “medical distress.” He was the taken to the hospital.
Ferguson said the suspect refused to share his identity with the police.
