(thepostmillennial)Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on Saturday evening that election officials in Fulton County, where Atlanta is located, have “discovered an issue involving reporting from their work on Friday.”
Posting on Twitter, Raffensperger tweeted that officials are currently at State Farm Arena, where votes are being tabulated, to rescan their work.
“I have a monitor and investigators onsite,” he wrote. “Also sent [Deputy Secretary of State] as well to oversee the process to make sure to secure the vote and protect all legal votes.”
Observers from both the Republican and Democratic parties are on site to observe the process.
Fulton County is the site of one of the most contentious vote counts in the 2020 US Presidential Election, where Joe Biden holds a slim lead of just over 4,500 votes over President Donald Trump. Biden’s total is said to include thousands of provisional ballots processed on Friday.
It is unclear if the issue will change the tallies.
The New York Times reported on Friday that officials in Fulton County stated that an election worker allegedly received threats following a Twitter post that “falsely claimed he had discarded a ballot, and that the worker has gone into hiding.”
