(thepostmillennial)Health officials in British Columbia have issued a prohibition of service and sales of alcohol on New Year’s Eve. According to the release, the prohibition comes into effect at 8 pm on the Dec. 31.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon during the daily coronavirus briefing. Henry states the prohibition is to prevent “risky behaviour” from taking place. This alludes to parties or social gatherings, which are now forbidden under current BC COVID rules.
The order applies to bars, restaurants, liquor stores and any other establishment that sells alcohol. Events have also been prohibited and masks continue to be mandatory in restaurants.
